Massachusetts power outage maps show customers affected by high winds

A mighty northeast hitting New England has knocked down power lines and triggered blackouts in the region Tuesday evening and Wednesday.

The storm, which intensified Tuesday night, dumped inches of rain over parts of southern Massachusetts. Also overnight Tuesday, the winds associated with the storm intensified with gusts eclipsing the 80 mph mark in some areas.

According to the national weather service, Cape Cod and the Islands experienced the strongest gusts of wind.

South Coast and East Massachusetts Power Outage Tracking Maps similarly showed a higher number of blackouts in Cape Town and the Islands, as well as in communities on the south shore of Plymouth County.

Local utilities are reporting blackouts across the region. Customers can track power outages and restoration efforts through online utility outage maps.

The Eversource Power Outage Map shows the towns of Plymouth, Barnstable and Falmouth were the hardest hit overnight Tuesday through Wednesday morning. Click here to see the map.
