A northeasterly draft is spreading over New Zealand today, starting from a large high pressure area towards the east, some showers especially over some inland areas in the late afternoon / evening .

Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay Of Plenty
A mixture of clouds of medium and high altitudes, possibility of an isolated downpour in the afternoon and evening. Winds east to northeast.
West North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, a few high clouds. A few isolated showers around Taranaki then becoming a little more generalized in the late afternoon / evening. Light winds.
East of the North Island
Mainly cloudy although the sun can break through from the afternoon, clear showers for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the afternoon. Winds from the east.
A mix of sun and cloud with light easterly winds.
Marlborough & Nelson
Rather cloudy, easterly winds for Marlborough, northerly winds for Nelson.
Rather cloudy, a few late afternoon / evening showers inland on the beaches. Windy east to northeast winds cross the plains.
Morning clouds rise to give way to sun and high clouds, showers develop in the afternoon with the possibility of a strong isolated fall in the beaches, then subside later . Winds from the north.
Southland and Otago
A few morning clouds then sunny areas develop; high clouds form from the afternoon. Showers in the late afternoon or evening for the inland and Southland, possibly a thunderstorm for parts of the interior, emerging overnight. Light winds for the most part, windy east to northeast winds for the Otago coast.
