PI 100: Presque Isle State Park Maps and Guides
All this year we’ve celebrated the 100th anniversary since Presque Isle became a state park. Tonight a guide to the maps and guides used at the park over the years.
You can get lost in the history of Presque Isle, but getting lost in the park is a bit more difficult, as maps and guides have been used to clearly mark the changing landscape over the years.
Together, these maps provide a clear picture of the historic journey of the park to the present day.
âIt’s great fun to see this performance and really this capture of time and how important it is. It’s always for the Erie region and to promote Presque Isle, âsaid Brian Gula, Presque Isle State Park.
And over time, advancing technology means that cards of the future might not look like the past. In fact, they may not be printed on paper at all.
âEvery now and then the park map needs to be updated as the peninsula naturally changes over time. Of course the facilities are updated, the trails change and it will be interesting to see the next park map come out and what would be depicted. said Gula.
